General Information...
Egypt is synonymous with Pharaohs, the pyramids, temples and antiquities from ancient civilizations. Hashemite' is the name of the royal family who are descendents of Hashim, the Great-grandfather of the prophet Mohammad.
Kingdom' in its usual meaning i.e. the royal monarchy system, which recognizes The King as the head of state.
Jordan' is the famous river which divides the country into two main parts; the east and the west bank.

Trading Hours
Banking hours are from 0800-0830 through to 1400 hrs from Sunday to Thursday. Many banks in Cairo also open again from 1700 or 1800 hrs for a few hours largely to cater for foreign exchange transactions. Weather
The climate in Egypt is for the most part, hot and dry. This applies to most of Egypt for the majority of the year, with the exception being the winter months of December, January and February, when in the North it can get cooler. Average temperatures range from 20-25 degrees Celsius on the Mediterranean coast to 28-30 degrees Celsius in Aswan in the south. Maximum temperatures can be fiercely hot during the high summer months of May, June, July, August and September, exceeding 38 degrees Celsius daily with extremes of up to 50 degrees Celsius at times. In the winter at nighttime, temperatures can plummet to below 10 degrees Celsius along.
Average daily maximum temperatures in Amman range from 12 C in January to 32 C in August. The weather in the Jordan Valley (Petra) and south of the country is very hot during the summer months of April through September. Daytime temperatures can exceed 38 C and increase to as high as 49 C. In winter (Dec to Feb) temperatures can range from 0 C to just 12 C. If visiting during winter, you will need to pack warm clothes for sightseeing and also for your stay in the desert at Wadi Rum.
